ENAMEL

Vitreous enamel is glass fused to a metal
surface. The glass crushed to a powder is
sifted to the surface and fired in a special
kiln at 1000-1600 F.
Sometimes 10 - 20 firings are requested for
a result you want.
There are different techniques like
Cloisonne, Champleve.
Basse-taille and Painting which you can all
combine.

For 2'000 years the maturation of enamel by
fire has been dramatic.
Much has been written about masters like
Fabergé and Lalique, enameled crosses have
been made for churches and the enameled
eggs for the russian tsar are famous.

The current revolutionary outpouring of
crafts has brought new materials, uniting
different techniques with exploration from
traditional processes.

After working with different techniques and
starting with jewelery and plates I found my
way in abstraction in wallpieces and
sculptures.
